For retailers, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are among the most exciting times of the year. These days are characterized by a surge in online shopping and promotional campaigns by businesses. According to BBC, Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2016 saw $6.8 billion and $5.1 billion, respectively, in total sales. Considering that these sales take place over two consecutive days, they're sure to make a big impact on businesses and consumers alike.
Although both sales campaigns started way back in 2010, these days became known as Cyber Monday only in 2013. Initially, the marketing campaign for this sale was minimal- but now it's pretty hype. Businesses use Google's AdWords to promote their sales on Cyber Monday. They also create blog posts, social media content and virtual reality experiences to grab people's attention throughout the week. In addition, some people promote these sales on their personal social media accounts with great results.
